Chapter 16
Written by Daelin, Eli, Michael, Riley, Anonymous
Atticus is casual, but in appreciation.
'Cause the kids really tried and stopped the confrontation,
He says that even though the men were very very mad,
Each one of them deep down were really not so bad.
The men had simply lost their senses,
But retrieved them with the kids defenses.
Jem, Scout, and Dill go outside to play,
But when the court's in session, they just can't stay away.
They try to sneak in to avoid an objection,
So the very nice Reverend lets then sit in the colored section.

Chapter 17
Written by Sanskar, Sabrina, Anonymous, Anonymous
The court trial is in town;
Bobs daughters was broken and bruised.
Tom Robinson was wrongly accused.
Coming from someone who lived in a dump
Bob daughters face had too many bumps
Atticus was defending against a bias jury
Tom Robinson was running out of time
Against his “crime”
This made no sense
And he couldn’t handle the suspense.

The case goes on
But is the story a con?
Mayella Ewell gets to the stand
Her account looks like it’s under command.
Mr. Gilmer and Atticus ask nicely,
Yet she won't answer precisely
She said she got caught
And she said that she fought
turns out she may be lying a whole lot
Is the culprit Tom Robinson or not?

Chapter 19

Atticus starts to question his client Tom
Even under pressure he continues to calm
This shows that the client has nothing to hide
Tom and Mayella’s story go side by side
The client told the jury Mayella had him do housework
If he denied her requests he would be seen as a jerk
One day Mayella asked him to fix a door
Nothing was wrong, and Tom was confused by this chore
Mayella approached Tom and wrapped her arms around the man
And then she kissed him surprising him with her plan
He quickly started to run as her father began to shout
From the house he ran, just trying to get out
In the duration of this Tom didn’t even touch her
Although in the courthouse there was still a huge stir
Mr. Gilmer asked Tom about the event
Dill started to cry and out the door he went
When accused of rape Tom says it’s not true
Both lawyers try to prove that their evidence is not skewed
Even under pressure he continues to calm
This shows that the client has nothing to hide

Chapter 20
Written by Andrew, Jonathan B., Peter, Anonymous
Atticus defends Tom Robinson with all his might
But the court will not show support even if he’s right
Atticus points out the aggressor is Bob Ewell
But the jury is unmoving like a prisoner in his cell
Tom tells the jury Mayella was filled with lust
The jury looks at Tom with denial and disgust
Atticus begs for a fair trial with the according infractions
The jury simply listens but completes no fair actions
Tom’s attending church group rises and applauds
For the fair and friendly Atticus, a real true good guy
Atticus leaves the courtroom conscious clean and head high.
